Excessive barking, growling, rowdy behavior, and other negative traits that a dog may have can all be trained out of a dog. What is more, all of the positive traits associated with dogs like obedience, faithfulness, and respect, can be included with the correct training regimen. A well trained dog makes a great pet.

In the worst case, a large dog might be able to strangle or crush a smaller one, entirely by accident, while trying to free itself.

Be patient when teaching your dog, it will take some time. You might have to repeat the same exercise up to fifty times before your dog remembers it. Continue repeating the command patiently, and eventually your dog will understand it.

Don’t approach a strange dog too quickly. Hold our your hand and slowly move closer. That is the first step in getting the dog accustomed to your smell and building trust between you. The dog will no longer be afraid after he is able to recongnize the scent and may begin to follow commands.

Training Sessions

During your training sessions, you should keep a close eye on the time. Spending too long on training exercises will start to bore the dog. Early on, your training sessions should be limited to less than 10 minutes.

Puppy training involves a firm hand. This does not mean you should continually admonish your dog. Balance firmness with love for best results. Doing so improves the relationship between you two.

Train your dog to stop barking with a treat. Show the dog a treat as incentive, then repeat the command until they obey it. Then, you reward them with a treat. Once you have diligently used this training method, your dog starts to link the tasty treat with the desired behavior and its corresponding command.

The best way to train your dog is to use different tones of voices. Each type of command should use a different type of tone. The best advice is to use a firm voice for commands, a louder voice when correcting your dog and a higher voice when praising your dog.

Training your dog intimidates many owners; but, it is actually very easy. By combining a proper mindset and a good base of knowledge, any dog can become well trained. Dogs are very smart and well apt to learning.
